We can send messages to a lot of people at the same time, with attachments or without. We can manipulate a received message while responding to it. We can split a paragraph into two and type our response within the message.
You can see everything on the screen for a period of time. This means that someone who enters a conversation several times after a message has been made, can still see it, reflect upon it and react to it.
It is a medium of linguistic communication, taking some of the properties of the two traditional mediums, speech and writing, synthetising them in a novel way, and adding further properties which were unavailable to either.
